Transforming Lives: Renovating the Mental Health Room at the Orphanage

At the Center of Child Support “ Liybustok”, Lviv, Ukraine, we believe that every child deserves a nurturing and supportive environment to thrive and grow. In our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive care, we recently embarked on a transformative renovation project for our mental health room and parents’ visits. Thanks to the generous contributions of our donors, we were able to create a safe and comfortable space that will positively impact the lives of the children in our care. In this article, we express our heartfelt gratitude to all those who made this renovation possible and share the incredible impact it will have on the well-being of our children.

The mental health room at the orphanage plays a critical role in the emotional well-being of the children. It is a space where they receive specialized support, counseling, and therapy to address the challenges they may face due to their circumstances.  Also, the orphanage didn’t have a space where future parents could come and spend time with children, interact, and be a part of kids’ lives. For one year our psychologists have been working with children changing every time a place where conduct the classes. Consulting with the management of the orphanage we decided to transform one room that was in dire need of renovation to provide a more calming and conducive environment for healing and growth.

With the support of our compassionate donors, we undertook a comprehensive renovation project. The room has been transformed into a haven of healing, designed to promote relaxation, comfort, and security. The renovation included new paint, soothing colors, comfortable furniture for children, division for different activity zones, and soft lighting to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Additionally, we added sensory elements such as soft textures, and sensory toys, providing our children with therapeutic tools to aid in their emotional regulation.

The upgraded mental health room not only offers a visually pleasing environment but also incorporates innovative therapeutic approaches to support our children's mental well-being. With the help of our generous donors, we were able to acquire state-of-the-art resources, including art therapy supplies, mindfulness materials, and interactive learning tools. These resources will enable our dedicated mental health professionals to implement a diverse range of therapeutic techniques tailored to the unique needs of each child.

We extend our deepest gratitude to all the donors who made this renovation project possible. Their kindness and compassion have transformed the mental health room into a space that will positively impact the lives of countless children. Their support is a testament to their unwavering belief in the power of healing and the potential of every child.

The renovation of the mental health room at the “ Liybustok”, Lviv, marks a significant milestone in our continuous efforts to provide the best possible care for our children. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, we have created a nurturing and therapeutic environment where our children can heal, grow, and thrive. And, most importantly - spend time with their future parents.

The presence of parents visiting their children's room at the orphanage can have numerous benefits for the child's mental health and overall well-being. Parental visits allow children to establish and maintain emotional bonds with their parents. These connections are crucial for a child's sense of security, self-esteem, and overall emotional development. Regular visits can foster a sense of belonging, love, and attachment, which are fundamental to a child's healthy psychological growth. A child who feels valued and supported by their parents is more likely to experience a sense of stability and security, which can positively impact their mental health.
Regular visits from parents demonstrate their commitment to the child's well-being and help build trust between the child and their parents. Trust is a foundational element of healthy relationships, and when children in orphanages experience consistent love and attention from their parents, they are more likely to develop trust and a positive outlook on life.
Our organization wanted to create a space where the parents’ love can be shared with children in a private and pleasure atmosphere.

We remain committed to our mission of offering comprehensive support to every child in our care, and this renovation project is a testament to that commitment. We are immensely grateful to all those who contributed to this endeavor, as their support has made a profound difference in the lives of our children.

As we move forward, we will continue to prioritize the mental health and well-being of our children, providing them with the care, love, and resources they need to overcome their challenges and build a brighter future. Together, we are transforming lives and creating a better world for the children who need it most.
